The perfect start to 2019

on the second week of January we started our show season, our first stop being Oliva Nova, Spain, for 2 weeks competition.


We took 11 horses with us, 8 of those horses aged between 5-8, so mostly young.


Our team dominated in the young horses classes, jumping consistant clears and taking many placings. 


Our 3 new five year olds were placed everytime they went in the ring, including a 2nd & 3rd place in the 5yr old Finals


Q Seven was in a league of his own, taking home 3 first places, plus taking 2nd in th Final on each week. 


Happynes was 4th in the 7yr old Final on week 1 in the vert compeitive field.


Cool Cash stepped up very well into the bigger classes, she won the 1.40 on week 1 and was 5h in the 1,40 on week 2, a very good result of an 8yr old.


Ballulah was on good form, jumping a fantastic clear in the Grand Prix on week 1.


Tallulah stole the show on the final week, she won the 1.45 LR jump off class from 60 high quality starters.

Grand Prix victory for Tallulah in Vilamoura

The team headed down to our final show of the year ito the 6 week tour in Vilamoura CSI3*.

Tallulah started the tour off in the right way, she took a brilliant win in the 1.50 3* Grand Prix.

Her daughter Ballulah didn’t disappoint either she was placed in several ranking classes. 

Cool Cash had a very good show, she stepped up to some bigger classes, finishing the Small Grand Prix with a very close 2nd place.

All the young horses took home valuable experience and many great results, including 34 top 10 placings!


A succesful 2 weeks in Lake Arena, Austria

We headed down with 9 horses to a new venue for us in Austria called The Lake Arena.

Throuhout the 2 weeks will had many brillaint results..

Q Seven WON the 5yr old FINAL

Happynes was 2nd in the 6yr old FINAL

Cool Cash was 3rd in the 7yr old FINAL

Everton De Villee took 2nd in the 1.45 GP Qualifer

Tallulah was 3rd in the 1.45 ranking class

Ballulah finshed 5th in the CSI2* GP

Talented young horses sold to top riders!

Over the last 6 weeks we have sold 3 of our super talented young horses to top riders around the world. We are excited to follow their progress in the sport.

Tallulah runner up in Knokke CSI3*

Tallulah finishes in 2nd place in the £50,000 GP ! This was a brillaint acheivement in such a world class field.


Q Seven was also runner up, this time in the 5yr old Final, Illonois also finished in 4th place.


Super consistant Cool Cash took a brillaint win a week 1 of Knokke, plus 2 very close 2nd places the following week.


Annie once again finishes our last week on a great note, taking a win in the small GP!

Baltica Spring Tour is a huge success!

After a short break for our horses we headed to Poland for 3 weeks of competition.

Our horses did not dissapoint, we took home many wins over the 3 weeks.


Grand Stakkato took a brilliant 1st place in the 6yr old Final.


Cool Cash was the star of the tour, winning 2 out of 3 7yr old finals plus taking 3 other wins throughout the tour.


Ballulah won the 1.45 GP qualifer and then went on to finish a very close 2nd in the 2* GP


Tallulah's coming back into form finishing in runner up position in a very fast 2* GP on week 2.


Annie finshes our brillaint 3 weeks on a high by winning the 1.40 Final in fine style!!

‘Everton’the star of Vilamoura

Everton goes from strength to strength during our 3 month tour in Europe. 


He showed so much consistently jumping clear after clear, with many placings in very competitive classes.


He showed maturity beyond his years on the final week, finishing in 5th place in the Longines 1.45 Ranking Class.


No doubt this is a Grand Prix horse in the making !

Our superstar ILLONOIS (Zambezi X Casanova)


He jumped without fault over 2 days of jumping to qualify for the jump off.


They may have been 1st to go but they set what proved to be an unbeatable target!

Clear rounds is key in Oliva !

We are very happy with the results of our horses at Met I in Oliva Nova. 


With 6 new horses added to our team we were thrilled with their performances.


Over the 2 weeks we jumped 54 clear rounds and had a total of 31 top 10 placings.


Next stop.... Vilamoura Atlantic Tour 

All set up at our first show of 2018

After a short break for the horses we have arrived safely in Oliva Nova. All the stables set up, horses are settled and we ready to start our first show of the year here.


With a total of 13 horses here, we look forward to start showing for 2 weeks, before moving down to Vilamoura.

Campus sold to Gornall Equestrian 

Our lovely Campus leaves today for his new home with Jamie Gornall at Gornall Equestrian.

 We are very excited to see what the future has to bring for this exciting partnership.

Campus has been a fantastic horse for us up to 3* level and we are excited to see him progress this year with Jamie at the 5* shows.

Pembroke sold to USA 

We said goodbye to our super 7yr old 'Pembroke 3'

Purchased as a 4 year old, it has been a pleasure to have had such a talented horse to produce.

We are lookin forward to seeing this exciting youngster take the next step in his career with top French rider Alexandra Paillot.

Tallulah wins CSI3* 1.50 Grand Prix 

Tallulah really is a special horse, she gave everything to win the CSI3* 1.50 Grand Prix here in Vilamoura. A brilliant win for our team, everyone works so hard. The biggest thank you goes to Bob Young for keeping this super mare in our stable. Results like this mean everything. We look forward to the rest of the tour in the beautiful sunshine. 




Shelby to Scott Brash 

We are so proud to see our superstar Shelby going to the British number one rider Scott Brash, and his wonderful owners Lord and Lady Harris, and Lord and Lady Kirkham. As Shelby is the second horse purchased for Scott coming from the Townhead Stud, we hope Shelby will be as successful as Hello Annie has been for him. Best of luck to them both. 





Hickstead CSI5*

Stopped off at Hickstead CSI5* on our way back from Knokke. Despite terrible rain, our horses performed very well. 

       5yr old stallion Grand Stakkato jumping consistent clears everyday, Cool Cash continues her form from Knokke, jumping everyday clear and placed in the top 10.

       Tallulah and Tendresse both having top 10 finishes in the 5* classes.

       Pembroke was a superstar finishing 2nd in the 7 & 8 year old Championship, and took highest place 7yr old. 

        Now home for a few weeks rest before heading to Scope Festival. 

Leading rider in Knokke!

Brilliant 3 weeks in Knokke for our team, the young horses were super consistent. Cool Cash won the 6yr old Final on the final week. Pembroke and Everton were placed very well in the 7yr old classes, amongst world class riders and horses. 

         Shelby was without fault on week 3, finishing the week brilliantly with a foot perfect double clear in the first GP of his career. 

         Tallulah finished in a very close 2nd place, in a very fast ranking class, with over 24 in the jump off. 

         We were very proud to be awarded leading 2*rider of the show. 

Tallulah wins the Baltica Tour Grand Prix!

After 2 days travelling, we arrived at the Baltica Tour in Northern Poland.

We could not of asked for anything more than what the Townhead horses gave to us over these 3 weeks.

We had 28 top 10 placing, we were runner up in 2 young horse finals.

Tallulah had a fantastic Grand Prix win as well as another win and many other brilliant placing.

We also welcomed our new 5yr old mare Gotha De Baudignies ( Ugano Sitte X Darco) to the team, we are very excted about this talented little horse.

Good form in Lummen

Great 2 weeks showing in Lummen for all of our horses. The young horses all jumping with so much consistancy jumping countless clears, with some good placings in their respective finals.

Tallulah had a fantastic win in the ranking class on Saturday night, from a strong field.

We were sad to see our 8yr old Miss Moneypenny leave us to go to her new home. We wish her new rider the best of luck, what a partnership they are going to be.

Now we pack up and get ready for our next adventure, next stop Poland for the Baltica Tour.


So, that's a wrap

Campus finishes the tour on a high, jumping unbelievable in a very tough 1.50 GP with a foot in the water to finish in the top 10 here in Vilamoura. All the horses have improved unbelievably, all bringing home some very good experience and results. A short break for them before we head out back to the continent in a months time. Best of luck to the new owners of Quatinka, Shariva and Dieg'eau De Villee. Thank you to all of our team that work so hard behind the scenes. Great start to the year in Spain.

Super start to 2017 for the horses at Oliva Nova. Despite terrible weather condititions at the start, we had 2 successful weeks jumping. Many clears and placings from our young horses and our 8 years olds stepping up and doing great rounds in some bigger classes. Campus and Tallulah between them were clear placed in 5 out of 6 ranking classes, including 2 Grand Prix's. 

We now move on to Vilamoura Atlantic Tour ready for 6 weeks jumping there.

The team here at Townhead Stud are very excited to welcome our new sponsor Stephex Horseboxes U.K. onto the team. This week we had delivery of a brand new 26T FH 540 Volvo 6 horse with a matching 3.5T 2 horse stud truck. 

Looking forward to heading down to Spain at the beginning of the year, with our 2 new trucks and 2 new horses ready for the 2017 season.
